Terms of Service
Last Updated: January 26, 2026
Welcome to SIIS ('Set It In Stone'). By using our services, you agree to these Terms of Service. Please read them carefully.
1. Not Legal Advice
SIIS provides technical timestamping and cryptographic hashing services. We do not provide legal advice. The legal admissibility of any evidence generated by our platform is determined by courts on a case-by-case basis. We create strong technical evidence based on RFC 3161 and IPFS standards, but we do not guarantee specific legal outcomes. Always consult a qualified attorney for legal matters.
2. Service Description
SIIS allows users to generate digital proofs of existence for files. We calculate a SHA-256 hash locally on your device (your files are never uploaded to our servers, only the hash). We then anchor this hash in a timestamp authority (RFC 3161) and store the proof record on the decentralized IPFS network.
3. Payments and Refunds (Important)
Due to the nature of blockchain and decentralized storage technologies, the execution of a 'Seal' (timestamp and storage) is irreversible and permanent. Therefore, services that have been performed (i.e., when a timestamp has been generated) are strictly non-refundable. The right of withdrawal (cooling-off period) does not apply to the service once performance has begun with your consent. However, unused credits that have not yet been applied to a service may be refunded within the statutory 14-day cooling-off period upon request.
4. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law (including Dutch Civil Code), SIIS is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount paid by you for the service in the 12 months preceding the claim. We are not responsible for the loss of your private keys/files or the future availability of third-party networks (IPFS/FreeTSA).
5. Intellectual Property
You retain all rights to the files you protect with SIIS. We claim no ownership over your documents. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to timestamp the content.
6. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands. Any disputes shall be submitted to the competent court in the Netherlands.
